This tutorial will show you how to take absolutely nothing, and make an awesome image in Photoshop. This effect can be used in wallpapers, templates, business cards, etc. It's very cool and very professional. Lets get started.

1. Make a new document. Make sure its 100pixels wide, by 10pixels tall. Use the paint bucket tool to make the background white.
2. Now hit ctrl-R to make the rulers appear on the screen

After this, select the arrow tool. Click on the Vertical ruler and drag it into the middle of your image. It should snap to the center before you deselect it.
3. Now select the Rectangle marquee tool and use it to make a selection from the top left corner to the bottom right corner of the ruler on your image. After making your selection, hit the “D” key to reset your colors. Now use your Paint bucket tool to fill in your selection with black.

4. Now we are going to make this into a pattern. Select Edit>Define pattern. Type in the name you want for it and hit ok. Congratulations the hard part is over, now the fun begins! You can close your pattern image if you want.
5. Make a new document. This time make it 800pixels wide, by 800pixels tall. Select the paint bucket tool and then select the pattern bucket option. Click the box to the left of the pattern button you just pressed. Scroll down to the bottom and select your new pattern. Now apply it to the document.

6. Now click Filter>Distort>polar coordinates. Change it to rectangular to polar and click select.

7. Duplicate this layer twice. Select the top layer. While this layer is selected click Filter>Distort>Twirl. Change the angle to-50 and click ok. Change this layers blending mode to lighten.

8. Now select the middle layer. Once again Click Filter>Distort>Twirl. This time change the angle to 50 and click ok. Change this layers blending mode to darken.
9. Now duplicate both of these two layers. Merge your two new layers. Now with this new layer selected click Filter>Blur> Gaussian Blur. Change the blur amount to 10 pixels and select ok. Change this layers blending option to Difference.

Hit ctrl-I. And you're done. This is what I got.
